You may not have any holiday cheer left in the tank, but January is a great time to think about next year’s holiday season. It’s the best time to stock up matching holiday pajamas, Christmas trees, and holiday decor. This month we’re seeing big sales at the major department stores like Macy’s, Kohl’s, and JCPenney as they get rid of their leftover holiday stock to make room for spring decor and apparel.

Beauty Sets

Many beauty brands release exclusive beauty sets for the holiday season and January is the month where we typically see them at their lowest prices. Our editors recommend shopping beauty stores like Ulta and Sephora, but also keeping and eye on department stores like Macy’s and JCPenney for the best deals. Recently we spotted four Biolage Hair Care Gift Sets for $28 (originally $40) at JCPenney.

One of our favorite cold-weather stores, 32 Degrees, has marked down their stock to the lowest prices we’ve seen all year. Lululemon is currently running their year end sale, which includes some of the lowest price drops we’ve seen all year. During the sale, these Blissfeel 2 Running Shoes drop from $148 to a record low price of $59!

Since many of the New Year’s sales are resolution-related, January is typically a good time to buy smartwatches and fitness trackers. Right now the 42mm Apple Watch Series 10 drops from $399 to $329.99 at Amazon. This matches the lowest price any version of the Apple Watch Series 10 has dropped to in weeks.

Linens, Sheet Sets, & Home Textiles

The first month of the year is often known for its “white sales” which refers to discounts on home textiles like linens, blankets, and sheet sets. Our experts expect that you can see discounts of up to 30% at stores like Macy’s, Bed Bath & Beyond, Kohl’s, and more. For example, during Macy's Clearance Event earlier this month we saw savings of up to 70% on sheets, bedding, towels, and more.

You may think Black Friday is the only time to get a deal on a new TV, but we often see great sales on TVs right before the Super Bowl. The big game is on February 9th this year, so keep an eye out towards the end of the month for the best deals.
